Reconnect With Nature!

Here is a pic of Little Kristie (me)!
I’ve spent a lot of time recently reconnecting with nature, in order to reconnect with nature you kinda have to reconnect with your inner child, that curiosity you had must be reignited.
When I was a child spending time in nature was like hanging out with best friends, whether it was camping by the river under beautiful big paper bark trees or at the beach hidden in the sand dunes, I cherish those memories.
No electricity, no running water and no distraction devices!
From swimming in tea tree oil soaked rivers, collecting pippis at the beach, water skiing, sandy feet, salty hair, bumps and bruises (evidence I had fun) that’s the stuff that made me!
I appreciate the need for technology but it’s so easy to forget about whats important, be sure to unplug every now and then, in order to move forward in this world it’s imperative that we don’t lose our connection to nature!

Stand Up For What You Believe In!

Sometimes standing up for what you believe in can mean standing alone, but that’s okay because just 1 person can make a huge difference in the world and I’m sure I don’t need to rattle off a huge list of amazing humans that created big changes in the world for you to believe that!
Believe in yourself and be brave enough to stand in your truth, even if your the only one in it!

Sustainable Souls Project - Extreme Weather

Extreme weather was this months topic with The Sustainable Souls Project, and it couldn't of come at a better time!
After running a little late with this project instead of doing a painting or illustration I decided to use a photo that I had taken after a fire had swept through some local bush land.

A heat wave has been sweeping through Australia and with these record breaking temps it's resulting in  a catastrophic bush fire threat through out the country!
We have been breaking temperature records for the last 3 years straight and this year was no exception!

Thankfully there are many great organisations like The Climate Council who are doing an incredible job at spreading awareness to the fact that we simply must reduce our greenhouse gas emissions!!
We must start respecting and nurturing our planet as it is what nourishes us!

Sustainable Souls Project - We Are All Connected!

Today on my blog I’m sharing my first artworks created for The Sustainable Souls Project!
As soon as I heard about this project I just knew I had to get involved! I had already been wanting to find a way to use my art to bring more awareness to current environmental issues for so long and this has given me the push that I needed to make it happen and start using my creativity to give our beautiful planet a voice!

We are all connected, we all feel the impact in the end and we are all now witnessing a climate crisis on our planet which requires emergency action!
By making smarter choices on a daily basis and being more mindful of our lifestyle habits and their impact on the planet together we can make a difference!
So I leave you with a quote.
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors.
We borrow it from our children.”
Native American Proverb

Gratitude Is Everything!

Hello lovely, thanks for stopping by, I hope you like this happy little artwork I created to symbolize an important shift going on in my life at the moment! Feel free to share it or just copy it and keep it for yourself as a reminder, I bet it would make for a cute wallpaper on your phone?
Anyway let’s get to the  point…
I have recently come into a fortune of happiness and I wanted to share my secret with you so you too can feel as amazing as I do!
GRATITUDE!!
Yep it’s just that simple! Gratitude is everything when it comes to happiness!
As they say happiness is not a destination it’s a way of life.
You are the only person in this world that can truly make you happy, your thoughts and experiences change immediately simply by being grateful!

If you are looking for happiness in  others you will always be met with disappointment.
If you always want more you will never have enough, because when we achieve one goal (that we expect to bring us happiness) we simply replace it with another.
You don’t have to wait for that perfect job, more money, more things, a perfect marriage, a house or children, you can be happy now!!
Things and people don’t have the power to make you happy, only you do! Things and people can add to that happiness but if you aren’t happy in yourself it will always be short lived.
I would love to challenge you to write down 5 things you are grateful for right now!
Maybe you could do this everyday for a week, a month, however long it takes until you really get it, until you wake up everyday knowing you have everything you need to be happy!!
I have even made a free little template for you to download if you like to make this easier, you could stick it on your fridge and jot things down on it each day?
Well it’s up to you anyway but I have recently started doing this with my kids and although sometimes they aren’t keen on it by the time they finish they feel better and they always have plenty to write down!
Instructions: Simply click on the image to enlarge it then right click on it to save it into one of the folders on your computer, select your saved copy then print away!
